
Flight Training
Our cadets have the opportunity to receive hands-on flight training and in-depth ground school instruction.

The Air Cadet program also provides the Glider Pilot Training Course and the Pilot Pilot Training Course training to selected cadet candidates in order to receive their Pilot License.
Glider Pilot or Power Pilot Training Courses (GPTC and PPTC)
Applications are open until 31 October 2024. Cadets need to email 89air@cadets.gc.ca, or see the Administration Officer if they are interested and if they meet the eligibility criteria as per CJCR Gp O 8060-7 Cadets must be fully connected to Cadet365.
The selection process for GPTC and PPTC includes the completion of the National Ground School Program and Qualification Exam.
The National Ground School Program will run from 1 November 2024 to 31 January 2025 and include 10 weeks of live lessons (recordings will be available), course materials, self-study guides, reference materials, practice quizzes and tests. Cadet can attend live lessons or self study (or combination)
There will be a break in live sessions between 21 December 2024 and 5 January 2025.
The Qualification Exam will be held between 1-7 February 2025.
Qualification exam results will be compiled and provided to RCSU to continue with the selection process.
16 May 2025 - Copy of Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) Cat 3 Medical Certificate due to RCSU.
Glider eligibility:

16 years of age by 1 September 2025;

Qualified Level 3 by 30 Jun 2025;

Grade 9 or equivalent;

Minimum height: 152.4cm Maximum height: 190.5 cm

Minimum weight: 40.82 kg Maximum weight: 90.72 kg

Valid Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) Cat 3 MC, with/without restrictions
Power Pilot eligibility:

17 years of age by 1 September 2025;

Qualified Level 4 by 30 June 2025;
